1 | Goal in the first leg

With just one day until the game with Napoli, we remember the Griezmann goal at the San Paolo that could make such a difference

There is just one more sleep to go before Barça face Napoli in the long-awaited return of the Champions League to Camp Nou. One was also number of goals that Barça scored in the first leg, and it is thanks to Antoine Griezmann’s 57th minute finish that Barça have an away goal in their favour and therefore start this second leg with a slight advantage.

The game on February 25 at San Paolo was a tight one that could have gone either way and ended in a 1-1 draw. Nobody imagined at the time that we’d have to wait over five months to find out how things would go in the second leg, or that Barça would be playing it without any fans to help them through at the Camp Nou.

Setién’s first and only Champions League game to date didn’t get off to the best of starts. He opened with Ter Stegen, Semedo, Piqué, Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Sergio Busquets, Rakitic, De Jong, Vidal, Griezmann and Messi, but it was the Italians who struck first through Dries Mertens on 30 minutes.

The equaliser was started by Nelson Semedo, who drove a low cross into the area and Griezmann was there to poke it home. The Frenchman has scored 15 goals in 46 games in his first season at Barça.

The downside was that Arturo Vidal was red carded and Busquets picked up a yellow card suspension, meaning neither will be able to play on Saturday.
