Stat of the Day | 37: LaLiga stadiums where Messi has scored
The goalscoring escapades of Leo Messi took him to the top of the pile for marksmen in Europe's 'Big Five' leagues this past March 7, as he reached 438 goals in 474 games. The Argentinian forward thus moved ahead of Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo, with 437. Although the Camp Nou has been treated to some amazing Messi strikes over the years, there can be no accusations of travel sickness levelled at the multiple Golden Shoe winner: He has found the net at almost every ground that he has visited in LaLiga.
Of the 42 grounds that have welcomed Messi since his domestic debut over 15 years ago -on October 16 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys against Espanyol- the Barça player has scored at 37. His success rate is some 88%, with only a few pending tasks on his 'to do' list. Riazor, the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and the Santiago Bernabéu are the three stadiums at which he has enjoyed the most success, with a combined 36 goals.
186 away goals
The numbers speak for themselves: 186 goals away from home, at 37 different grounds around Spain. Whenever Messi has played more than once at a stadium, he has scored there. Only the Albacete's Carlos Belmonte, Xerez' Municiapl de Chapín, Numancia's Los Pajaritos, Cadiz' Ramón de Carranza and Murcia's Enrique Roca have some unfinished business for the striker, who has played just a single fixture at each.
