Pedri: 'We even have Barça plates at home'

The FC Barcelona Youtube channel catches up with the player who will join the Club from next season

Pedri, the player who will be a Barça player from next season, joined up with the FC Barcelona Youtube channel via video link on Thursday. The teenager admitted that 'coming to Barça has been a dream since I was little' before taking on the 90 Second Challenge and the Stay at Home challenge. Some of the highlights from the interview with Pedri:

Signing for Barça

“It was a special day for me as playing for Barça has been a dream since I was a kid. When they told it was happening I couldn't believe it, I was so happy and I celebrated with my family."

"When I came to Barcelona it was special as I met Abidal and saw the players. It was amazing to see them in person after watching them on TV. I also met Ilaix who I know from the national team."

Barça through and through

“In my house in Tenerife even the plates have Barça on them, a frying pan too. My family are big Barça fans."

“I have been to Barcelona and the Camp Nou a couple of times. I remember a game in Puyol lifted up the cup, I was really young."

Future team mates

“They have told me a lot of things about them and I am really looking forward to being there. At Las Palmas they always joke that Setién likes my kind of football."

"I am most looking forward to meeting Messi, that's what catches the attention, I admire him a lot. I saw when I went to the Ciutat Esportiva and I bumped into the players, it was really special."

Role models

“My role model has been Iniesta, who did a lot at Barça. My dad talks to me about Michael Laudrup and I like to play like him too."

“Also, when he was at Las Palmas, Jonathan Viera gave me a lot of advice and he helped me to be myself."

Pedro Rodríguez is a different type of player to me but I always used to watch him at Barça, he was really important."

Family and lockdown

“The last few weeks I wast in Tenerife with my family and fortunately they are all okay. Now I am back in Las Palmas."

“In Las Palmas I share a house with the keeper from the B team as my family are all in Tenerife. But it is only half an hour on the plane and they come when they can and we are always in contact."

“At the moment the fitness coaches at Las Palmas prepare a video for us to do from home so we are training well."

“Day to day I train and play a bit of FIFA. I also like other sports...I play a lot of basketball."

Style of play

“I am a player who likes to pass the ball a lot and have the ball as well. I have to improve in front of goal."

“I think I can bring my dribbling to Barça, I always try even if it does not always work. Above all I like to pass and move, something Barça do a lot."

“I have always enjoyed playing football. If you enjoy yourself with the ball then you don't need motivation. I am very competitive, I don't like losing on the play station."

“The day of my debut I felt most pressure. I lost the ball twice but thanks to the support of the fans I came through it and everything went well."
