Barça Women's second league title
FC Barcelona Women started the 2012/13 league season poorly, and were 11 points behind leaders, Athletic Club, at one point. The second half of the campaign, however, was almost perfect, as Xavi Llorens' women won thirteen games and drew another, which put them just a point behind the Basques as they went into a decisive match at San Mamés.
On May 5, 2013, there were 26,000 fans supporting Athletic. Melanie Serrano put Barça ahead in the third minute with a masterful free kick and Ibarra equalised for the hosts moments before the break. Kenti Robles gave Barça victory in the 71st minute (1-2), and she said at the end of the match, "this is the reward for never giving up."
The Barça players on that glorious day were: Ràfols, Laura, Mely, Marta Unzué, Melanie, Torrecilla, Míriam, Vicky (Gemma, 75 '), Marta Corredera (Kenti, 65'), Sonia and Alexia ( Olga, 65 '). Sonia was the team's top scorer that season, with 21 goals in 26 games.
As a brilliant culmination, Xavi Llorens' players were rewarded with the opportunity to join the parade of champions through the streets of Barcelona together with the men’s first team, who had also won their league. There were goosebumps when they heard the cries of "champions, champions!" from the 500,000 Barcelona fans who followed the bus as it wound its way through the city.
