Messi, Suárez and Griezmann among Top 5 scorers of the decade
Barça has one of the most lethal strike forces in Europe. But we all knew that already. And it has been confirmed by the presence of no fewer than three players from the club featuring among the top five goalscorers of the last decade: Leo Messi, Luis Suárez and Antoine Griezmann. Counted from 2010-11, the top five are as follows:
Player | Goals | Games |
Leo Messi | 350 | 330 |
Cristiano Ronaldo | 285 | 263 |
Karim Benzema | 154 | 311 |
Luis Suárez | 142 | 180 |
Antoine Griezmann | 142 | 347 |
The trio are also renowned for the way they work together, always looking to help each other out, and this is reflected in the way the same three still appear in the top five when accounting not only for goals but for assists as well, with Messi once again way out in front:
Player | Games | Goals | Assists | Goals+Assists |
Leo Messi | 330 | 350 | 137 | 487 |
Cristiano Ronaldo | 263 | 285 | 80 | 365 |
Karim Benzema | 311 | 154 | 76 | 230 |
Luis Suárez | 180 | 142 | 68 | 210 |
Antoine Griezmann | 347 | 142 | 47 | 189 |
Antoine Griezmann is the player who has appeared in the most Liga game in the last ten years, 347 for Real Sociedad, Atlético Madrid and Barça, followed by Messi with 330, all for FC Barcelona of course.
In the decade, Messi also leads the way in braces (68) and is second for hat-tricks (32), with Luis Suárez third with 10.
Messi is also tops for goals from outside the area (66), goals from inside the area (284), direct free kicks scored (33) and dribbles (1,482), in the latter category with almost a thousand more than second placed Iker Muniain (567).
Messi (293) and Griezmann (99) are the players who have scored the most with their left foot, and Luis Suárez (108) is only topped by Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to goals with the right.
