IN MY OWN WORDS: Ludovic Fàbregas
Thursday, March 12. The day of our final training session. I remember the moment perfectly. We were preparing for the derby against Fraikin Granollers in the Liga Sacyr ASOBAL, after having won the Copa del Rey on March 8. We were keen to play and, as always, to represent Barça.
However, for the first time, things were different. There were cancelled games and cancelled training sessions. The Ciutat Esportiva, our home, was closed. “My everyday life is about to change," I thought. The travel, the team meals, coffee before training, working with our coach encouraging us... all gone.
Our planning went out of the window, and so did our work. But, most of all, so did our lives! Because everything is different now. Life without our biggest passion, life staying at home, isn't the same. Without handball, we have to practice sport on our balcony, with no equipment, watch series or draw. We have to keep ourselves occupied in order to make the situation more bearable. But everyday I think about the same thing: Getting the season back underway.
I talk with my parents every day to see how they are, and to find out what is happening in my home country, France. I'm in contact with everybody, because it's a critical situation and we have to stick together, despite the distance between us. We call each other every day, see each other on WhatsApp and, fortunately, everybody is OK. I also talk to my grandmother, who celebrated her birthday a few days ago. I always talk with her to practice Catalan.
We are always united and strong, and that is how we will stay. It's how we are.
I miss my teammates, my coaches and my club. But for the good of everybody and to overcome this crisis, #IStayAtHome.
It will be even more beautiful to see each other again, Barça fans.
