Barça 40-25 BM Benidorm: Seventh Copa del Rey in a row
Barça have beaten Benidorm to win the Copa del Rey in the Caja Mágica, Madrid, an incredible 24th title for them in the competition, and even more incredibly, the seventh in a row! They have performed immaculately in this weekend’s competition, and powered their way through the final with Ludovic Fabregas leading the scoring with eight goals, and Aleix Gómez claiming six.
BM Benidorm were in the cup final for the first time ever and proved a worthy opponent. They took a gamble and opted to start without a goalkeeper in the hope of picking up something early. But Barça punished them for the tactic and led by nine at the interval.
Benidorm were more effective after the break, but they were never going to break down such a huge margin. Barça were able to comfortably defend their lead and claim the trophy once again – and yet another to add to Victor Tomás’ collection in his final season before retiring.
