What place in Barça's history does Suárez's goal deserve?
A year ago, in December 2018, we started the Best Goal Ever, a competition in which the users of the FC Barcelona website could choose the best goal in Barça's history. It wasn't easy, especially given the long and successful history of the club.
Now, what would've happened if Luis Suárez's goal against Mallorca had entered the Best Goal Ever competition? In what place would it have been? The debate is worthwhile, because both the lead up to the goal and the goal itself are of the highest quality.
It's clear that it would've been one of the candidates for the final prize, and in fact, a very similar goal by Patrick Kluivert, also against Mallorca in the 2002/03 season, was among the 64 participating goals.
Too bad that the vote has already closed, but for Suárez there is no doubt: "It was the best goal of my career." A goal that demonstrates, once again, the quality of the Uruguayan forward.
We must remember, however, the great quality of the goals in the Best Goal Ever. Three from Messi and Sergi Roberto's against PSG. They are belong in a museum!
