Premiere of 'Matchday' at the Liceu theatre in Barcelona
This Thursday at 8pm, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona hosts the premiere of Matchday, the new documentary series that shows everyday life at FC Barcelona from inside, as never before seen. The event will be attended by representatives of FC Barcelona and Rakuten, as well as different personalities from the worlds of music, cinema and television.
The series will be available in Europe exclusively through video on demand platform Rakuten TV, completely free, from November 29. It can be seen via the AVOD (ad-supported video on-demand) service. Since October, Rakuten TV has incorporated a free section that allows users to see different content at no cost, with brief advertisement breaks. The documentary will also be launched in Japan on November 29, and at a later date will be released through Rakuten TV -or in collaboration with other operators- in the Asian-Pacific (APAC) region and the USA. FC Barcelona have also reserved the broadcst rights to the series in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East (MENA) and Canada.
Matchday consists of eight 45-minute episodes, reviewing key moments from the 2018/19 season and offering exclusive, previously unseen footage and content, both of players before and after games and spending time with their family and friends. The English version is narrated by actor John Malkovich, whilst in Catalan and Spanish actor Pere Arquillué provides his voice.
A Barça Studios production
Matchday is production of Barça Studios, which centralises the creation, production and commercialisation of all of FC Barcelona’s audiovisual content, with the collaboration of Rakuten, in association with Rakuten H Collective Studio, Kosmos Studios and Produccions del Barrio.
