The candidates for the Globe Soccer Awards were revealed on Wednesday and there is yet more blaugrana blood in the running for prizes. Leo Messi, Ansu Fati and Éric Abidal are all nominees for the ceremony to held on December 29 at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
The Argentinian joins Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Sadio Mané, Bernardo Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo on the shortlist for Men’s Player of the Year, an award he already picked up in 2015. His case was very much supported on Tuesday night with two goals and two assists against Real Valladolid, including his 50th career goal from a free kick.
Ansu Fati is among five names in the running for Best Revelation Player, where he is competing against Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, Kai Havertz and Joao Felix.
And we also have Éric Abidal, who was honoured on his career at the 2012 event and is now among the candidates for Best Sporting Director, where he’s up against Andrea Berta (Atlético Madrid), Michael Edwards (Liverpool), Igle Tare (Lazio) and Marc Overmars (Ajax).
