33 and counting for Leo Messi in the Champions League
There is no stopping Leo Messi. The Argentine scored his first goal in the competition this season on Wednesday evening in Barça 2-1 win and added the name of Slavia Prague to the list of clubs he has scored against in the Champions League with the total now standing at 33.
As such, the Barça number 10 equals the record held by former Real Madrid and Schalke 04 striker Rául González and Cristiano Ronaldo with former blaugrana Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in fourth place having scored against 29 different clubs in the competition.
The only teams who have prevented Leo Messi from scoring against them are Rubin Kazan, Atlético Madrid, Benfica, Udinese, Levski Sofia, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan. Messi will have the chance against the latter two clubs this season in the remaining fixtures in Group F.
15 seasons scoring in the Champions League
From 2005/06 to 2019/20. Leo Messi has found the net in Europe's top club competition, 15 seasons in a row, a feat, like many others achieved by the Argentine, no-one else has been able to match.
