Five years of Suárez magic

Uruguayan striker made Barça debut half a decade ago, and has gone on to score 184 goals

25 October 2014. Real Madrid v FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu. Luis Suárez played his first ever game for Barça. Since then he had not ceased to break records and write new pages in the club’s history. Indeed, just the other day at Eibar, he equalled Josep Samitier’s tally of 184 goals to become the joint forth highest goalscorer that the club has ever had.

184 goals in 257 games

The Uruguayan scored those goals in 257 competitive matches. The former Nacional, Groningen, Ajax and Liverpool man especially peaked in 2015/16, when he scored 59 times. His 40 goals in La Liga that campaign won him the Pichichi award as top scorer in Spain, as well another Golden Shoe to add to the one he got with Liverpool in 2013/14.

Valencia has been on the receiving end of more of his goals than anyone, 12, closely followed by Sevilla and Real Madrid on 11. He just needs ten more goals to match Kubala’s 194 and become the second highest scoring foreigner of all time at Barça. Needless to say, however, he is still light years away from the simply staggering 605 goals that Leo Messi has scored.

13 titles

La Liga: 4
Champions League: 1
Copa del Rey: 4
European Super Cup: 1
Clubs World Cup: 1
Spanish Super Cup: 2

Messi connection: 72 goals

Suárez has always associated to perfection with Leo Messi. This is reflected in the 31 goal assists that he has received from the Argentinian, while he has provided 41 such passes to Messi. That’s a fabulous 72 goals in total.
