FC Barcelona shirt numbers confirmed

With the summer transfer market now closed, the shirt numbers for the first team squad can now be confirmed. The majority of the squad continue wearing the same shirt as last season, however, there is one change. Carles Aleñá now wears the number 19 with the numer 21 now worn by Dutchman Frenkie de Jong. 

Goalkeeper Neto takes over the number 13 shirt from the departed Jasper Cillessen. Antoine Griezmann will wear the number 17, worn last season by Colombian defender Jeison Murillo. The numero 24, left vacant by Thomas Vermaelen's departure, is worn by another new signing, Junior. 

Moussa Wague has made the jump to the first team from Barça B and he will wear number 16, left free with Sergi Samper joining Japanese club Vissel Kobe. For now, the numbers 7,12 and 14 are free. 

Historic shirt numbers 

Aside from the new signing, the famous numbers worn by the like of Leo Messi (10), Gerard Piqué (3) will not change. Jordi Alba wears 18 for the eight successive season with Ter Stegen (1), Rakitic (4), Sergio (5), Suárez (9) and Sergi Roberto (20) wear their numbers for the sixth successive season.
