Miami, from El Clásico to Napoli-Barça
Barça return to a special place that holds good memories. Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, which once hosted a Barça v Real Madrid fixture, will now be the venue for Napoli v Barça.
Two years since El Clásico in Miami
The history books show countless Clásicos, be they league, Copa del Rey or in Europe, but one chapter stands out. Two years ago, on July 29, 2017, El Clásico was held in Miami. It was not the first Barça-Real Madrid fixture played abroad, however, with Barquisimeto in Venezuela holding that particular honour.
Barça won in Miami 3-2, thanks to goals from Messi, Rakitic and Piqué, setting the tone for official matches last season, 2018/19, as El Clásico superiority in terms of most wins, finally tipped Barça's way.
There were 66,014 spectators in Miami two years ago, and on August 8, American fans will again be able to enjoy FC Barcelona in the United States. Home to the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium will have to swap the oval ball for the round one.
Napoli-Barça, second game in Miami
After two years, Barça will return to the Hard Rock Stadium to face Napoli. It is a match that is part of the US tour, which is the second element of this pre-season. After the tour of Japan and a fixture against Arsenal in the Joan Gamper Trophy, Ernesto Valverde's side will fly to America to play in two friendlies against Carlo Ancelotti's team. Miami will surely evoke some good memories again.
