Back to work!
The 2019/20 preseason is under way! Bright and early this Sunday at 9.00am CEST, fourteen members of the first team and five from Barça B were back at the club for their routine medical examinations, which included body composition, cardio and biomedical tests.
New signings De Jong and Neto were not required to attend as they have only just taken the tests as part of their signing-on procedure. So the players gathered today were Ter Stegen, Semedo, Piqué, Rakitic, Sergio, Todibo, Dembélé, Rafinha, Malcom, Lenglet, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Aleñá and Umtiti, from the first team, and Iñaki Peña, Oriol Busquets, Collado, Riqui Puig and Carles Pérez, from Barça B.
New signing Antoine Griezmann was also present, taking his medical on the morning of the big day when he’ll be signing his contract and being officially presented. All of that will be screened live here on the official website.
Two sessions on Monday
Monday will begin with blood analysis at 9.30am, and then it’ll be straight out onto the field at the Ciutat Esportiva training ground, Griezmann, Neto and De Jong included, for the first training session of the season with Ernesto Valverde.
There will both a morning and an early evening session on the first day back as the players prepare for the flight to Japan on July 20, where they have Rakuten Cup fixtures against Chelsea and Vissel Kobe.
Remember, the South Americans who competed at the Copa América are being allowed some extra time to enjoy some rest and won’t be reporting back until later on in the preseason.
