Cory Higgins: a first class reinforcement for Barça
Cory HIggins will wear the Barça shirt for the next three seasons until 30 June 2022. The 30-year-old, 1.96 metre, shooting guard / small forward born in Danville, California is coming to Barcelona after winning the Euroleague with CSKA Moscow and is regarded as one of the finest players in the European game
Maturity
Higgins is coming at the epitome of his career. With CSKA, he’s averaged 14.2 and 14.9 points a game in the Euroleague and was one of the main reasons why the Muscovites took the title. He can score threes (47% conversions rate in 129 games across 4 seasons) and also twos, and is always a solid bet in the one-on-one. He’s also active on defence, again excelling in man-to-man situations.
Career background
The son of NBA player Rod Higgins, he played the college game at the Colorado Buffaloes from 2007 to 2011, where he became the sixth all-time scorer in Big 12 Conference history, as well as completing his degree in Sociology.
He joined the NBA at the Charlotte Bobcats (now the Hornets), and played 44 games in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons and also appeared for the Erie BayHawks in the D-League.
In 2013 he decided to give Europe a go, joining Zenit Saint Peterburg (at the time still known as Trimph Lyubertsy), and his 20.3 showed that he had finally made the breakthrough he was looking for. In 2014/15 he switched to Gaziantep in Turkey (16 points a game) and that earned him a call from CSKA Moscow, where he has spent the last four seasons, winning two Euroleagues and four editions of the VTB United League.
