Ter Stegen and Alexia Putellas win Barça fair play award
Marc André TerStegen and Alexia Putellas have won the Premio Barça Jugadores award presented each year by the Barça Players Group in recognition of fair play demonstrated by male and females FC Barcelona stars over the course of the season. The jury met on Thursday at the Camp Nou to make their decision.
The jury highlighted Ter Stegen’s humility, naturalness and involvement in the day-to-day at the club and country. Specifically, the jury wished to highlight how, after the shock of elimination from the Champions League at Anfield, the German keeper made a point of crossing the field to thank the fans for their support.
As for Alexia Putellas, who has played for the women’s team since 2012, the jury is honouring everything she has done for the women’s game in Catalonia, her stand for equal opportunities and what she has done for the squad throughout what has not been an easy season.
The tenth presentation of these awards, which include a women’s category for the first time, will be taking place sometime later this year.
