First win for Spain at the Women's World Cup
Seven blaugranes participated in the 3-1 victory against South Africa
An historic triumph for the Spanish Women's team after a 3-1 win against South Africa at the World Cup in France. Each line of the team was represented by at least one FC Barcelona player.
Presence of seven culers
Sandra Paños in goal, Mapi León and Torrejón in defence, Losada and Alexia in midfield, and Mariona up front. Jorge Vilda's side dominated early on, however, Sandra Paños couldn't prevent the Africans from getting on the scoreboard after a counterattack.
In the second half, with another Barça player, Aitana, on the Le Havre pitch, Spain moved into overdrive to win the match. Two penalties from Jennifer Hermoso and another goal from Lucía García ensured an opening victory in the tournament, and one which had a large culer representation.
