Luis Suárez Medical Communiqué
Luis Suárez has completed his readjustment phase at FC Barcelona and joins the Uruguay team to continue the process ready for his inclusion in the team.
The Uruguayan forward had surgery on May 9, an arthroscopy on the right knee due to an internal meniscal injury. The approximate time of recovery is between four and six weeks, as reported by the Club's medical services.
Suárez scored 25 goals in 49 games for Barça in 2018/19, making him the second highest scorer in the team behind only Lionel Messi. On April 23 he overhauled Ladislau Kubala -131 goals - as the third highest scorer ever for Barça in the league.
The upcoming Copa América will be his third, having already played in the 2011 edition, when he won the trophy, and 2016, where his country were knocked out in the first round. The No.9 missed the 2015 edition due to a FIFA penalty that meant he was inactive for a few months.
