FC Barcelona players called up for international fixtures
Squad announcements for the European countries fielding teams in either the UEFA Nations League Final Four and 2020 European Championships qualifying in June, were made on Friday. Portugal, Switzerland, England and the Netherlands make up the Final Four, while the rest of the teams will play qualifying matches to end their 2018-19 season.
The first players to be announced were those for the Spanish squad. Coach Luis Enrique Martínez called up Barça's Sergi Roberto, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets to play both qualifying matches for Euro 2020, against the Faroe Islands and Sweden. The first match will take place on Friday, 7 June in Tórshavn, while the second will be on the following Monday at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid. Furthermore, Ivan Rakitic has also been called up by Croatian national team coach Zlatko Dalic for his country's two fixtures, a Euro 2020 qualifier against Wales and a friendly with Tunisia.
Thomas Vermaelen is in the Belgian squad to face Kazakhstan and Scotland in Euro 2020 qualifying and Clément Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti have also been called for the French squad for their upcoming games against Bolivia, Turkey and Andorra. Lenglet could have the chance to make his debut with the full French national side.
Coutinho and Arthur have been named in Brazil's squad for the 2019 Copa América to be played in Brazil and Leo Messi is also in the Argentina squad. Jeison Murillo is named in the preliminary squad for Colombia for the tournament.
Aleñá, on the initial list for the U21 European Championship
Carles Aleñá is on Spain's initial list of 25 players to play in the U21 European Championships. Coach, Luis de la Fuente, called up the Barça midfielder for a tournament which will begin on June 16 in Italy, where Spain will face the hosts in the first game.
