Final session at Anfield

The Reds' stadium was the scene for FC Barcelona's last training session before the second leg of the Champions League semifinals

FC Barcelona trained on the Anfield pitch on Monday evening, just over 24 hours before the start of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Liverpool. Ernesto Valverde's side defend a 3-0 lead from the first leg.

The session saw 21 first team players involved plus Wagué and Iñaki Peña, from Barça B, and was the last activity of a day that began this morning with a flight from El Prat airport to the English city.

'It's always special to return to Anfield'

Before training, Luis Suárez and Ernesto Valverde appeared before the press and both agreed that, despite the good result from the first leg, it will still be a very complicated game.

Suárez was especially happy to return to Anfield, his home for three and a half seasons, but the Uruguayan warned of the difficulty of playing at this mythical stadium. "In this sense, Liverpool play with an extra plus. I have always said that here the home team plays with one more because of the pressure of the fans. It's very special for me to return to Anfield, very exciting, and I'm very grateful to Liverpool for the great moments I experienced here."

For his part, coach Ernesto Valverde commented that "we will play the game without taking into account the result of the first leg. We have to go out, attack and take the match to our opponent. It's a stadium where the supporters put a lot of pressure on you and we'll have to keep a close eye on everything."
