Messi reigns in Europe
Leo Messi never stops. With two goals on Tuesday night in Barça's 3-0 win over Manchester United in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, the man they call the goat once again deserves every last bit of praise.
Top scorer in the Champions League
Leo Messi now has 10 goals in the 2018/19 Champions League, tops in the tournament. He's followed by Robert Lewandowski (8 and already knocked out). These are who Messi has scored them against: PSV (4 in the group stage) and Tottenham (2 in the group stage), Olympique Lyon (2 in the last 16), and Manchester United (2 in the quarterfinals).
Messi also leads the Golden Shoe race with 33 goals in La Liga, six more than PSG's Mbappé.
24 goals vs English teams
Messi has great numbers against Premier League sides. With two goals from outside the area versus United, Messi now has 24 total against English teams: Arsenal (9), Manchester City (6), Manchester United (4), Chelsea (3) and Tottenham (2).
Two long range strikes
Messi is the only one who can top Messi. Tuesday was the second time in his career that he scored twice from outside the area in the same game. The only other precedent came against Stuttgart in the 2009/10 Champions League when Barça KO'd the German outfit in the last 16.
