Barça Lassa 34-18 Liberbank Cuenca: Copa del Rey champions!
Barça Lassa have added the 2019 Copa del Rey to their ever-expanding collection of handball trophies following a victory over Liberbank Cuenca in Sunday’s final at the Pitiu Rochel in Alicante.
A sublime second half display earned the fifth item of silverware of this incredible season, and the sixth Copa del Rey trophy in a row!
Finals are never quite like other games, and this one was extraordinarily tight in the first half. . Like against Puente Genil in the semis, it wasn’t until just before the interval that Barça Lassa finally put together a meaningful lead at 16-12.
More intensity in defence meant that after the restart it was quickly 24-14, and from then on there was only ever going to be one winner. Barça kept things seriously and built up a bigger and bigger lead against a side who morale crashed in the final stages of the game.
