With schools in Cali and Medellín, Colombia now has more than any other country in South America

The FCB Escola project continues its expansion in South America with the opening of two new schools in Colombia, in the cities of Medellín and Cali. Last May the FCBEscola Bogotá was opened and so Colombia is now becoming an important part of the project on the continent with the country having more schools than any other in South America.

Colombia is a country with a great footballing tradition and with three schools it hosts half of South America’s FCBEscoles with others in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil and one in Lima, Peru.

As is the case with the FCBEscola Bogotà, the FCBEscola Medellín and FCBEscola Cali will be run by Caribbean Football, a team that began its collaboration with project with the FCBEscola Domnican Republic. The school in the Colombian capital of Bogotá has around 300 students who are learning football following the values and playing style of FC Barcelona and it is hoped that those figures can be repeated in the other schools opening in Colombia.

FCBEscola Medellín hopes to begin activity in the month of February at the facilities of the University of Medellín. For their part, the FCBEscola Cali will having training facilities based in the area of Pance.

Currently Barça have 36 FCBEscoles actives around the world, more than 170 campuses and 50 clinics in more than 40 countries. More than 40,000 boys and girls take part in the different activities put on by the schools with an FCBEscola in Costa Rica also planned to be opened soon.
