There are a number of Barça players who have become a fixture in the Clasicos. Since Tito Villanova joined the coaching staff at the Club – first as Pep Guardiola’s assistant and then as first team coach himself, there are six players who have started each of the four league games against Madrid at the Bernabeu - Víctor Valdés, Dani Alves, Gerard Piqué, Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernández and Leo Messi, whilst Andrés Iniesta has played in them all – coming on as a sub in the 2009/10 match.
Three wins and a draw
The results over the last four years could hardly have been better – three wins and a draw. In the 2008/09 season when the team won the treble, there was the unforgettable 2-6 win which sealed Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova’s first league title, whilst the following season they won 0-2 in a game in which Iniesta started on the bench.
The 2010/11 season was the only one in which Barça failed to win, settling for a 1-1 draw , with the league title all but won and last season the team won 1-3 , even though the title finally went to Real Madrid.
