El 9: Steve Archibald, the Scotsman's ear

Steve Archibald is another of the guests on ‘El 9’, on Barça TV. We look back at his years with Barça from 1984 to 1987. Manager Terry Venables preferred the former Spurs man as his centre forward ahead of Hugo Sánchez and the Scotsman played a central role in winning the Liga title in 1984/85. The following season, Archibald was outstanding in the European Cup, scoring particularly memorable goals against Porto and Torino (the latter with his ear). His departure from the club, at a time when there were still restrictions on the number of foreigners that could play in a team, was also a much discussed affair.
