LSK Kvinner 0 - 1 Barça: Champions League semifinalists!
The FC Barcelona women’s team are living the dream. After a solid 1-0 victory on Wednesday night at the Åråsen Stadion in Norway, the next stop for the blaugranas is the UEFA Women’s Champions League semifinals. The lone goal of the game came courtesy of Lieke Martens, whose seventh minute strike was all Barça would need.
The Catalanas, thus, go through to the last four of Europe’s top club competition by a 4-0 aggregate score. This will be Barça’s second trip ever to the semifinals.
Barça dominated the battle for possession from start to finish. So it was of little surprise when Martens’s goal came at the end of a prototypical Barça passing combination. Melanie to Mariona to Martens.
Up 1-0, the Barça women carried out one of the main objectives of the club’s emblematic style of play — if you control the ball, the other team can’t score.
In 90 minutes, LSK Kvinner barely had a whiff of the Barça area. They had three scoring chances. That was it.
Barça will face either Bayern Munich or Slavia Prague in the semis.
