Alexis and Bravo's performances in the World Cup
Alexis Sánchez and Claudio Bravo were crucial to Chile’s impressive World Cup campaign, which led to Spain being eliminated in the group stage. Chile finished second in their group, just behind the Netherlands, and were paired up with Brazil in the Round of 16. The Chilean were defeated by the host country after a 1-1 draw and a penalty shootout.
Both players played a total of 390 minutes – four complete matches – and they both put in fantastic performances. Claudio Bravo, who signed for FC Barcelona after the group stage, was solid, secure, and attentive in his games. He made a total of 10 saves and finished the competition with an 82% save rate.
Alexis Sánchez was Chile’s most incisive player. In addition to scoring two goals, he also gave an assist and won a MOTM award.
The World Cup, however, ended abruptly for the Chileans, who defeated Australia (3-1) and Spain (2-0), but they were unable to secure the top spot of the group after losing to the Netherlands (2-0). They were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Brazil after a penalty shootout.
