FC Barcelona U19 v Huesca: Breaking the wall (1-0)

García Pimienta's youth team finally beat an ultra-defensive visiting side with a goal from Alex Corredera

FC Barcelona U19: A. Casas, D. Palau (Arjona, min 45), Rodri, A. Vilanova, J. Arellano, Ferran S., Amir (Corredera, min 45), Enguene, A. Cantalapiedra, Carbonell & Moha (T. Chendri, min 83).

Huesca U19: Laguna, Ballesteros, Richi, Lasierra, Grasa, Diloy, Sorrosal, Conte, Héctor (Lardis, min 69), Sebas & Kenta (Abu, min 81).

Goals: 1-0, A. Corredera (min 71).

Huesca once again proved to be a tough nut to break. They may be one of the lowest ranked teams in the league table, but the Aragonese outfit held out for most of the game with the Barça U19s by doing exactly what they did when going down 1-0 to FCB in the meeting earlier on this season – basically renouncing any attempt to keep the ball and sitting back in the hope of sneaking a goal either from counter attacks or dead ball situations.

So Barça dominated, yet despite close attempts from all of Rodri, Adrià Vilanova, Enguene i Ferran Sarsanedas, Aitor Cantalapiedra and Amir Natxo, there was no score in the first 45 minutes, with Huesca keeper Laguna producing some stunning saves.

In the second, however, the visitors were pegged back in their own half and it seemed incredible that the deadlock had not been broken as chances flew in from all angles, with Rodri having a goal disallowed after 54 minutes. But Huesca eventually succumbed when substitute Alex Corredera pounced on a loose ball in the opposition’s area. It was no less than Barça deserved and they went on to celebrate a fourth consecutive win.
