Best Goal Ever: Messi versus... Messi
We're getting closer to finding out what the best goal in the history of FC Barcelona is. The quarterfinals of the Best Goal Ever competition starts on Tuesday with a clear protagonist: Lionel Andrés Messi. Six of the eight goals left to be voted on have been scored by the Argentine. Next, find out the four facts that we need to know before the heats this week...
1) Messi v Messi will occur three times
On Tuesday, Friday and Saturday there will be 'repeated' eliminations. Three goals from Barça's No.10 will be up against three more of his... The chip at Sevilla or the wonder strike against Athletic Club? The slalom against Zaragoza or at the Bernabéu in the Champions League? The goal against Bayern Munich or the 'Maradona' against Getafe? You decide!
2) Ronaldinho or Sergi Roberto?
Messi has many chances to win the competition... but the goal by Ronaldinho at the Bernabéu and the importance of Sergi Roberto's against PSG can still top the voting. The Brazilian legend and the current No.20 face off in an exciting duel this Thursday.
3) Nearly half a million votes
So far, in 56 contested rounds, the competition has registered more than 450,000 votes. A great record for a competition that has yet to see the best goals!
4) Heading towards the Final Four
Before the end of March we will know what the best goal in the history of Barça is. Once this week is over, we will know which are the four goals that will make up the Final Four, and then the competition will then enter a new dimension.
The four best goals in Barça's history will not compete in two traditional semifinals but each will compete against the other. The most voted of the four, in a vote where you can win great prizes, will be the winner of the Best Goal Ever. Get voting!
