Todibo makes Barça debut
Wednesday’s Catalan Super Cup match between Barça and Girona gave us our first chance to see Jean-Clair Todibo in action for FC Barcelona. And an impressive sight it was too, with the Frenchman displaying plenty of signs of his versatility and multiple resources on the Sabadell field.
He started as a defensive midfielder, but dropped back into his more familiar centre back role for the second half.
He looked very comfortable indeed on the ball, positioning himself well, making sensible passes and also giving us flashes of his dazzling skill, a cheeky nutmeg included.
But he can also defend, looking rock solid in his 65 minutes on pitch, and it was just four minutes after he had been taken off that Girona finally found the net, albeit from the penalty spot.
Todibo was not the only debutant in action for Barça. Senegalese right back Moussa Wague of Barça B got his first start for the senior team, playing the full ninety in defence.
