Luis Suárez wins seventh Aldo Rovira prize

The Uruguayan striker is honoured by directors and heads of sport in Catalan media following an incredible campaign

Luis Suárez has been awarded the Aldo Rovira prize for the 2015/16 season. The annual award honours the best FC Barcelona of the past season, and is decided by a jury composed of directors and heads of sport in Catalan media.

The Uruguayan striker has been recognised for his excellent season in which he won his second European Golden Shoe, helping Barça to the league and cup. Barça’s no.9 scored 59 goals in all competitions, 40 of which came in La Liga. On top of that, Suárez provided 25 assists.

All of this led to him being the main choice for the esteemed honour, joining Eric Abidal, Javier Mascherano and Leo Messi on this list of winners, the latter having won it on four occasions.

The award was created in 2010 in memory of the son of former FC Barcelona director Josep Lluis Rovira, who died in a traffic accident a year earlier.
