Medical report on injuries to Mathieu and Iniesta
During the game against Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup, the Barça captain picked up a bruised knee and the French defender suffered a hamstring problem
In the first half of the Spanish Super Cup first leg, Andrés Iniesta and Jérémy Mathieu were both replaced due to injury by Denis Suárez and Lucas Digne respectively. The Barça captain has a bruised knee after a collision with Sevilla’s Mariano and the Frenchman has a hamstring problem in his right leg.
Tests on Monday confirmed that Iniesta has suffered a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for around two weeks, although how it develops will determine when he will be available again.
Meanwhile, Mathieu has a distal tear in his right leg and the estimated downtime will be around three weeks.
