These are the winners of the 125th Anniversary Song Contest

Jury made up of music, literature and media professionals picks the three lyrics out of 532 candidates that get a €6,000 prize each

FC Barcelona closed entries on June 30 for the 125th Anniversary Song Contest, which is looking to find the lyrics to the anthem for the event happening later this year. There were no fewer than 532 entries, far more than expected, and the quality was exceptionally high.

The jury has been meeting in July and eventually picked the following three finalists, each of which wins €6,000 euros:

Marc Ricós Casajuana (el Masnou, 1994), artist and music producer.

David Bricollé Ibáñez (Sant Vicenç de Castellet, 1970), journalist.

Xavier Gonzàlez-Costa (Berga, 1967), poet, communicator and cultural activist. FC Barcelona member no. 60846.

The jury was made up of professionals from the field of music, literature and culture, namely singer and composer Lluís Gavaldà, writer, columnist, translator and Sant Jordi prize winning novelist 2023 Jordi Puntí; historian and researcher of contemporary literature Mita Casacuberta; poet and and editor of a book about Josep Pla Jordi Cornudella; journalist, poet and Anagrama prize winning novelist Anna Ballbona and journlaist, lecturer and Òmnium Cultural vice-president Mònica Terribas.

Composing time

The next phase is to set these words to music, a job to be performed by composers selected by FC Barcelona, and until their work is complete, the lyrical entries will not be made public. The club will then select music producers and artists to perform the pieces, and then fans will be able to listen to the three songs and choose which one they would like to be the official anthem of the FC Barcelona 125th Anniversary celebrations.
