Barça 5-4 Sporting: Into the Champions League final!

In a tight, close fought semi-final, a goal from Matheus nine minutes from time decided the contest for the blaugranes and booked their place in the final

The Barça futsal team are through to the final of the Champions League after an emotional 5-4 win over Sporting in the semi-final, Matheus' goal nine minutes from time the winner. The game swung one way and then another but Jesús Velasco's team held their nerve to win the chance to claim the title for the first team if they can overcome Palma Futsal in Sunday's final.

To and fro

Things could not have started in worse fashion for the blaugranes as Sporting took the lead in the very first minute. A great save from Barça keeper Dídac prevented the Portuguese side from taking a 2-0 lead in the game being played in the Armenian capital of Yerevan. Barça were back on level terms after nine minutes when Rafa Félix diverted Touré's shot past his own keeper. Seconds later Adolfo put the Catalans ahead with a good finish at the far post.

Both sides had chances to add to the tally of goals, Catela hitting the post for Barça before Té's goal on the counter saw Sporting level things up at 2-2. In the first half there was still time for Hugo Neves to put the Portuguese side in front before Antonio conjured up an equaliser for Jesús Velasco's team to make it 3-3 at half time.

In the second half Catela scored almost immediately after the restart to put Barça back in front. Dídac made a coupe of excellent saves but could do nothing about Tatinho's shot to make it 4-4 on 24 minutes. The game was up in the air until Matheus made it 5-4 to Barça with nine minutes left. Dídac again made several important stops as the blaugranes held on to book their place in Sunday's final, kick off 6pm CEST.
